Newport is an affluent Coast community south of the main body of the city of Newport Beach, CA. It was a separate census-designated place in Orange County California until 2001, when it was annexed into Newport Beach. The population was 9,741 in 2010. The master-planned community was developed by the Irvine Company. There are a variety of home types in the community, from small studio apartments to ocean view mansions occupied by well-known celebrities.

The historic Crystal Cove State Park, tucked between Coast Highway and the ocean, includes three miles of coastline and its historic district contains more than a dozen restored 1930s-era vacation cottages that can be rented year-round.
